Peachtree Press – October 2016

Dear Residents, Staff, and Family Members,

Thank you all so much for helping to make our “Fun Day” so successful this year!! We had great food, wonderful music, lots of children attending and a beautiful God-given day full of sunshine!! We could not have asked for any more since we also had wonderful volunteers who helped so much. One, Karen Payne, brought a miniature horse, the fire department who brought the smoke house, Ambu-star who provided shaved ice snow cones free for everyone, Medi-Home Health and Hospice who provided popcorn and Limestone College Theater students who painted faces!!! All this and so much more, thanks to everyone who gave of their time, talents and for the many individuals and companies who donated silent auction items. It is definitely heartwarming to see everyone pull together for such a special cause!!

Now, on to October and some more fun events. October 7 th is “World Smile Day,” let’s have a “Guess Whose Smile” contest!! Don’t forget to give everyone your best smile daily, it’s contagious you know! On the same day, let’s “Pink Out” in support of those who have fought breast cancer. As you probably know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Let’s have some Halloween Fun in the upcoming weeks with Halloween stories on October 12 th , at 10:30 am on Units 1&2, followed by a “Cookie Bake” at 2:30 pm on Units 1, 2, &3. On October 18 th , make some Fall/Halloween crafts on Units 1 or 2, any residents from any unit are welcome to any activity! A Candy Corn Guessing Game will be held on October 21 st , maybe you get to eat candy corn as the prize??

We are encouraging everyone to help us with a “Trunk or Treat” event to be held outside, weather permitting, on October 27 th at 4:30 pm. Donations of candy would be greatly appreciated for this event and for the visits from daycares to Trick-or-Treat on Friday, October 28 th and Monday, October 31 st. Staff members normally “go all out” for Halloween and I’m encouraging you to
do the same this year. The residents and all of us enjoy seeing the costumes and decorations as we have lots of laughter and fun on that day!!

Thanks for everything you do for Peachtree Centre!! As always, keep Peachtree in your prayers.
